GT500 Hood Struts '07-'14

GT500 Hood Struts for your '07-'14 Shelby, color matched and NO holes to drill $139. Comes in Kona Blue, Sterling Grey, Race Red, Black, Performance White,  Vista Blue and several other factory colors.  Our GT500 Hood Struts  is a simple installation that requires only basic hand tools, no drilling is required for installation. Of all the Mustang accessories on the market for the GT500 the CPC Mustang Hood Struts is probably the easiest installation of any aftermarket Mustang accessory
for the 2007-2014 GT500.

GT500 Hood Struts

The Hood Struts come with two brackets per strut and the strut cartridge.  Using the existing holes from the underside of the hood and the inner fender the brackets are attached by removing a total of four screws and loosening one.  With the aid of a helper you can install the Hood Struts on your GT500 in less than 1/2 hours.  Take a look at the instructions below.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Installing a NXT Generation Mustang hood lift kit is one of the easiest and most satisfying modifications anyone can do for them self, and it takes only minutes.
*Important* Please read entire instructions before attempting to install this kit. This will prevent any missteps that could complicate the process or cause damage to yourself or your Mustang. CPC recommends having a helper when installing the hood lift kits.
  1. Raise the hood and secure it with the factory prop rod.
  2. Locate the smaller of the two windshield washer hose clips on the passenger side of the hood. This clip conflicts
with the hood side lift bracket and must be removed. Unfasten the hose from the clip and remove the clip. *Note: This clip is not reusable, and you will not need it for this installation, so it can be cut with a knife or dikes, or pulled out with pliers.
  3. Apply a small strip of masking tape to the side of the hood hinge and the side of the hood frame on each side and draw a line to mark existing alignment (hood adjustment).
  4. Working on one side at a time, remove the last fender bolt next to the cowl (firewall) and install the lower bracket using the existing factory fender bolt.
*Note: Brackets are “side specific” and are marked “D” for driver side, “P” for passenger side.
**NOTE: 2010-UP MUSTANG GT’S ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN INDUCTION SOUND TUBE (IST) ON THE DRIVER SIDE FENDER LEDGE. IN ORDER FOR THE (IST) NOT TO INTERFER WITH THE GAS SPRING, IT MUST BE REMOVED & RELOCATED BELOW THE FENDER LEDGE, IN THE SAME LOCATION OF ORIGINAL MOUNTING HOLES & HARDWARE.
  5. Before removing the hood hinge bolts, place a towel or pad between the hood and cowl and covering the fender to protect against damage should the hood slip from your grasp.
  6. Holding the hood at the rear corner, remove two hood hinge bolts and position the appropriate (driver or passenger side) upper hood lift bracket over the hinge. Install both hinge bolts “finger tight” and adjust forward or rearward until your marks on the masking tape “line up” again and tighten the hood bolts securely.
  7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 on the opposite side.
  8. Disengage the prop rod and slowly lower the hood to double check hood alignment and make any
re-adjustments as are required to reestablish a perfect fit.
  9. With a helper holding the hood up, install both of the gas struts to the appropriate ball studs, making sure to
mount with the cylinder up and the shaft down. This arrangement will guarantee the longest life for your gas struts.

Now one mistake that countless car enthusiast make when purchasing aftermarket products is not reading the instructions.  One customer in particular took his GT500 to a local dealership and had a mechanic install the Hood Struts who never took the time to read the instructions.  The problem happened when the mechanic installed the driver side hood strut on the passenger side, when he attempted to close his hood the Hood Strut made contact with the newly painted
Mustang Battery and Master Cylinder Cover  and scratched the paint.  All because the mechanic never took the time to read the instructions or see that the Hood struts were marked "Driver" and "Passenger".   A new custom painted set of Mustang Battery and Master Cylinder Covers were ruined just in time for a up coming car show.  It pays to READ.

    GT500 Hood Struts
Many GT500 owners have hoods made from aluminum, fiberglass or carbon fiber. Because of the difference in the weights of the hoods we offer three different strut pressures.  For the stock GT500 hood we recommend the 70lb strut, for the heavier fiberglass hoods we offer the 90lb strut and for the lightweight carbon fiber hood like the one that came on the KR we have a 50lb strut.

The Hood Struts that we offer come in over a dozen different factory colors to match your Shelby and have proven to be a excellent product. Throw away your factory prop rod and install a set of Hood Struts. To order a pair of Struts just click on the following link GT500 Hood Struts

'67 Mustang Restoration part 2

After having the '67 Mustang Fastback sand blasted we were able to get an in depth look at the condition of the Mustang and I'm happy to report that after 46 years the car will need some work.  We knew going into this project there would be rust, we just didn't know how much and where.

With any 46 year old car there will be panels to repair or replace due to rust and our '67 Fastback was no different.  Even though this is a California car and had been sitting for over a year rust has a way of spreading.

With all the paint and bondo stripped off the '67 we had a long list of parts that needed to be replaced....floor pans, doors, quarter panels, trunk lid, firewall, inner and outer wheel house, rear apron,  torque box, taillight panel, hood, rear valance and a few others.

The restoration of the '67 was not going to be a month long project but would take several months to complete.  When it comes to restoring any classic car one of the most important factors is availibility
of parts.  Many car restoration projects have been put on hold because parts were out of stock.  Provided you have a good builder your supplier can make or break your project.  Just waiting on something as small as a door hinge can put a halt on a restoration.  Here's a word of advice order the parts first before you start the project.

Bangastang called on Gale Lockhart Product Manager with California Mustang to help us with the restoration of the '67 Fastback.  Gale has been with California Mustang for 21 years and is very knowledgeable when it comes to classic Mustangs.   California Mustang would serve as our parts supplier for the '67 restoration.  After several phone conversations with Gale, a few trips and several deliveries from UPS are restoration of the 1967 Mustang Fastback was underway.

Our first course of action was to remove the rusted original floor pans.  The floor of the Mustang is a vital area when it comes to building a solid structure.  It doesn't matter if it's a six cylinder or a big block V8 with 500 horsepower a rusted floor makes for a twisted body or in this case uni-body.

With the '67 Mustang Fastback we wanted to do something different  in terms of styling one of the first suggestions that we got was to build another Eleanor Mustang like the one featured in the "Gone in 60 Seconds" film after a little thinking my response was "hell no not again".  Let's not get this twisted I love the Eleanor Mustang but how many times can you eat beans before you get tired of them.  The Eleanor Mustang have been replicated more times than you or I can count.  It was time for something fresh and with the Bangastang  flair.   Building a custom Mustang is not about throwing a bunch of parts together to see how it's going to turn out it's about planning and design.  We needed a rendering done and the only person for the job is Danny Whitfield  automotive artist.  Danny has been in the automotive design business for over 30 years and has a flair like no other.  Danny has worked with Bangastang on past customizing projects like the Hell Snake  that we built last year.

Hell Snake

The Hell Snake is a custom GT500 package upgrade that we offer for the 2007-2014 GT500. The first Hell Snake that we built has won several first place trophies at various car shows around the US.
Danny and Bangastang worked on the design of the Hell Snake.

After several meetings with Danny and Mark the owner of the '67 Mustang, Danny created over a dozen renderings of 1967 Mustangs.  I can tell you that all of them were outstanding in there design but a choice had to be made that would please the owner and raise the bar.  Here it is......

Our plans for the '67 Mustang Fastback is to create a Mustang that is very sexy and elegant.  We plan to combine classic American Muscle and European flair in our 1967 Fastback Restomod.

In 2014 the Mustang will turn 50 years old and the folks at Bangastang would like to honor the 50th Anniversary with one BAD 1967 Fastback that will be timeless in it's design.

This is a build you do not want to miss.  Subscribe to our blog and watch artistry at it's best.

Bangastang Mustang Shock Tower Covers

Looking for Mustang Shock Tower Covers we've got them in billet for the '05-'14 Mustang and Shelby $181.  Let's face it the shock tower on your late model Mustang is not one of your more appealing parts in your engine bay.  Many Mustang owners opt for small billet caps that cover the strut bolts and the center this is an improvement but still not quite what's needed to do justice.
Bangastang has the solution for your shock tower....Billet Mustang Shock Tower Covers.  Made here in the US from billet aluminum these Mustang Shock Tower Covers  are unlike any on the market for the Ford Mustang instead of a few caps to cover the assembly this set-up will cover the entire Mustang Shock Tower.  This little Mustang accessory is quite the decorative piece and compliments
most of your aftermarket engine caps for the Mustang and GT500.
Shown here in a satin anodized finish Shock Tower Covers is a two piece assembly that has an outer ring along with center cap and are designate driver and passenger side for easy installation.  The Shock Tower Covers come with  rubber o-rings to fit around the strut bolt and help secure the Shock Tower Covers.  If you're building an arsenal of accessories for your Mustang or Shelby these are a great addition to your line up.

One thing to remember when dressing up your Mustang's engine bay is consistency try to stick with one finish.  If you're using polished billet parts then stick with polished don't mix.  Notice the polished  Mustang Fuse Box Cover all of the parts are polished and look great as an ensemble.  Pay close attention when accessorizing your Mustang the small things count a great deal with it comes time to vote at your local Mustang show.  Build a solid foundation and remember less is more.

The Mustang Shock Tower Covers that we carry are sold as a set of two (2) and come with installation instructions which will take about 10 minutes to install and does not require any hand tools.  If you have an strut tower brace on your Mustang these will not fit.  Some aftermarket struts can cause an issue with fitment as well.  For more information about this product click on the following link  Mustang Shock Tower Covers
