GT500 KR Parts for Sale

One man's trash is another man's treasure.  Apparently a Shelby GT500 KR wasn't much of a treasure to one man.  Recently we acquired several parts from a KR....wheels, tires, front splitter, suspension, brakes, seats, sway bars, exhaust, front fascia and fenders.  The owner of the GT500 KR opted to make his rare Shelby a Widebody road and track car.  The Widebody  transformation required a 10 piece fiberglass kit that replaced the front fascia, fenders, rear fascia and rocker panels.  In present stage the GT500 KR looks nothing like the original trim.

Once we announced that we had several of the KR parts a mad frenzy erupted from Shelby GT500
from all over the world.  We received emails and phone calls from as far away as Germany and
Poland.  Over the course of a weekend we received over 300 emails regarding the KR parts. The
majority of the inquiries were about the rare KR wheels....they were the first to sell.  A GT500
owner in the San Diego area read our Bangastang blog and called us first....wheels and tires were
gone in 60 seconds.  The KR Struts and Springs were the next parts sold to a KR owner in Texas,
followed by the exhaust that is on it's way to Germany.  The Brembo brakes from the KR have found a home in San Jose California.

After posting on our Facebook Fan Page, our blog and a few Mustang related forums we were amazed how quickly the word got out about the KR Parts and the story behind the KR.  The Mustang Source
even wrote an article about our treasure find.

The lure of the GT500 KR parts is their rarity, you just can't walk into your local Ford dealer and order
KR wheels and the carbon fiber hood without jumping through a few large hoops.

We did receive a phone call from a guy in southern California that recently bought a KR from an
auction lot and several of the original parts were missing like the wheels, brakes and seats.  He
was interested in buying many of the KR parts that we had available.  So let's think for a moment,
somewhere in California there is another set of GT500 KR wheels floating around maybe for
sale.....time to do some investigating.

We have the Front Fascia and Fenders from the KR and we're considering offers, if the price is
right someone will have the front clip from GT500 KR, if not it will make a nice addition to
my memorabilia.

We don't know if we'll ever come across any more GT500 KR parts but if we do you'll be the
first to know. Make sure you're a fan of our Bangastang Facebook Fan Page to get the latest
news from us.

GT500 KR butchered!

Finding original 2008 Shelby GT500 KR parts are like a Honus Wagner baseball card.....they are almost impossible to find and if you find one the price is through the roof.

You've heard many stories of people selling or giving away rare and valuable items and now we have
one for you to chew on.

Before we get to the details of our very rare find, let's talk about the 2008 Shelby GT500 KR.  The
2008 Shelby GT500 KR is probably the rarest domestic car to come out of the US in over twenty years
only 1,712 were built making the KR a highly collectible car for a car collector.  Many parts on the KR
are exclusive to the KR and are not sold on the open retail market.  A carbon fiber hood, rocker panels,
mirror covers, wheels, stripes and a front splitter are only found on a GT500 KR.

Many KR owners don't even drive their car due to the fear of having a accident and the high cost for replacement parts.  To replace a KR carbon fiber hood will cost you close to $20,000....plus paint.

Only a person that owns a KR can purchase KR parts and only after proving that their stock parts were
damaged and need replacement will replacement parts be sold.  You might even need Top Secret
government clearance to get their hands on GT500 KR products.

Every now and then someone comes along and doesn't know the value of something....rare paintings,
18th century furniture, baseball cards, Egyptian artifacts, Civil War maps or a 2008 Shelby GT500
KR.  Some folks throw stuff in the trash, donate it to the Goodwill, use it for a doorstop or decide to
modify a perfectly good car.....we shed a few tears on this one.

Now before you read the next few sentences I strongly suggest that you sit down, take your shoes off
and maybe have a glass or two of wine.  WARNING what you are about to read may cause high
levels of anxiety, anger, depression and even thoughts of homicide.  Please proceed with caution.

A few days ago we were informed that a owner of a 2008 Shelby GT500 KR in the San Diego area
had dismantled his KR and made it into a Widebody  Race car complete with fiberglass fenders, front fascia, rear fascia, rocker panels, front splitter , roll cage and a host of other goodies.  This is not a typo and I'm not under the influence of alcohol as I write this.....a KR was dismantled by
the owner and made into a Widebody street and track car for kicks.  Jed get your rifle.

Remember back in high school when you had a crush on Vivian McCray, Vivian was the prettiest
girl in the entire school district.  Every guy in your school wanted to date Vivian but didn't have a
snowball's chance in hell.  Vivian was like a rare painting, a fine piece of 18th century furniture, a Honus Wagner baseball card,  a Civil War map and a Shelby GT500 KR.   Finally your big break comes and Vivian is in your 5th hour history class and sits next to you.  Your heart can't stop racing,
you can't believe that foxy Vivian is five feet from you, but you're too scared to say anything so you
just stare in amazement at her beauty.  She can't see you staring because her flowing mane of brown
hair blocks her peripheral vision.  It's 12:50pm and the bell rings, class is dismissed,  Vivian turns to
you with her golden brown locks of hair and says "could I see your notes from Friday I was absent".
This is your biggest moment of your 16 1/2 year-old life, Vivian McCray is talking to me,  Mr.
Can't Get a Date to the Prom.  All you can do is respond with a high pitched "I think so".  Vivian
quickly puts her hand over her nose like you just cut the cheese and says "I'll ask someone else".
The extra onions that you put on your burger during lunch just kicked in like a Kenne Bell supercharger and has sent Vivian McCray running for cover.  This is not the Kodak moment that
you want.

Sometimes in life you come across a Vivian McCray and you have to seize the moment
and take advantage of the opportunity and not blow onion breath.   The Shelby GT500 KR is
Vivian McCray, a fine piece of machinery with some very rare jewels.

The crown jewel of the KR, the carbon fiber hood was sold for $1,400.00 to a Shelby owner in Virginia,  I hope he doesn't blow onion breath.  It's sickening that a 2008 GT500 KR carbon fiber hood was sold for $1,400.00 and many Shelby owners would probably pay $6,000.00 for a KR hood without
even a second thought.  Other parts from the KR was sold....no need for any more details it will make
you cry like you were chopping onions.

Other parts from this KR are floating around but Bangastang was fortunate to get our hands on the
carbon fiber Front Splitter....whew!!!   The splitter is in excellent condition with no chips or road
rash and is now available from us.  Here's the link GT500 KR Front Splitter  New these KR Front
Splitters sell for $3,392.00 our price for blowing onion breath is $1,295.00.

Appreciate what you have and take care of whatever it may be and if you decide to order extra
onions may sure you have some mints afterward.

Would you dismantle a 2008 GT500KR and make it into a Widebody race car?  We would like to
hear your opinion.

Carbon Fiber Mustang Accessories

Carbon Fiber has been around since the late 1800s when inventor Thomas Edison used carbon filaments in his early light bulbs.  The carbon fiber in Edison's light bulbs were cellulose based materials from cotton and bamboo.  Today's carbon fiber is petroleum based.

In the 1950's high strength carbon fiber was discovered.  Carbon Fiber has many benefits one is it's
strength.  Carbon Fiber has a higher tensile strength than steel.  Another benefit of carbon fiber is it's
lightweight and it's resistance to stretching.   The use of carbon fiber has been a fixture in aviation
and the space program for many years.

Carbon Fiber was voted one of he greatest engineering achievements of the 20th century by the
National Academy of Engineering.

In the 1970 the automotive industry starting experimenting with carbon fiber.  The Ford Motor Company built a car out of carbon fiber in 1997.

Today cars competing in NASCAR and Formula 1 are comprised of carbon fiber composites to
save weight and add strength.

Carbon fiber Mustang accessories have become a fixture of the late model Ford Mustang parts
and accessory industry.  Carbon fiber accessories were once only available in your exotic
cars such as Porche, Ferrari,  Lamborghini and  Aston Martin.  Now Mustang owners can purchase
a wide variety of carbon fiber accessories and parts for their Mustang from hoods, front splitters,
rockers panels, rear diffusers, fenders, trunk lids, plenum covers, dash kits and even center consoles.
The list of carbon fiber accessories for the late model Ford Mustang is growing rapidly.

The cost of carbon fiber has decreased in the last few years making it for affordable. The techniques
used to apply carbon fiber has increased and now it's a matter of your imagination.  If you want something in carbon fiber for your Mustang it's probably available......just ask.

My question to you is has carbon fiber lost it's appeal?  When something is new everyone wants it
but once it's been around for awhile it loses it's appeal or does it?

If you want to see our selection of Carbon Fiber Mustang Accessories  we carry a wide array to suite
your taste.
