Midwest Auto Gear Closed

Another manufacturer of Mustang accessories has closed their doors, Midwest Auto Gear is no longer
in business.  MAG as they were known in the Mustang community had been around for several years
and produced many accessories for the 2005-2009 Ford Mustangs.  Mirror covers, shock tower covers,
fuel rail covers, radiator extension covers and their very popular plenum cover were some of the products that most you have seen on late model Mustangs.  If you own a S197 Mustang there is a good chance you have purchased at least one Midwest product or at least seen them.

It's no surprise with the current economy that another business has folded.  It takes manpower,  overhead, money and most of all sales to keep a business running.  When the economy is tight buying $400 worth of Mustang accessories is not the first thing that comes to your mind,  paying your mortgage and tuition are top priority.

When the economy is bad, small businesses catch hell; staff is reduced, production is reduced, new product development is stopped, advertising budget is slashed, inventory is limited and sales drop.
Overall a bad economy can mean disaster for any business, small or large and when the product
sold is not a necessity it usually doesn't get purchased.

I have no idea why Midwest Auto Gear closed down their business but I suspect this poor economy
was a major contributor.  Another contributor may have been.....CHEAP Mustang parts.  Anyone
that has purchased a  MAG product will tell you it's top quality and made in the US.  Your cheap
Mustang parts come from overseas usually from a Asian country, many times the quality is substandard but "it's cheaper".   Too many people in this country buy based on "it's cheaper" attitude
with little regard for quality and the fact that the product is made overseas.

Ask yourself this question would you rather employ nine people in Taiwan at $1.00 per day or
12 people in the US at $15 an hour that help contribute to the economy of this country......answer
please?  I know what my answer is, give me the US worker that lives here and pays taxes here,
that purchased a house and is sending their kids to private school in the US.

Now don't get this twisted EVERYONE has a right to buy from anyone and any where but let's
put some money into our economy and not some other country.

In the Oliver Stone film "Wall Street" there is a famous line "greed is good", for the US companies
that took their operations overseas to increase their profit margin.....SHAME on you.  Just
imagine if those jobs were here in the US, maybe our economy would be booming and not in
the toilet.

Midwest Auto Gear you will be missed.
